Jun 23, 2017 Install Little Snitch on Mac OSX. June 23, 2017 Amber. About the App. App name: Little Snitch. OSX, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard. Oct 09, 2013  Little Snitch works in the same vein as a firewall, but the difference is that instead of restricting connections from entering, it restricts connections and data from leaving. With Little Snitch it's possible to decide which programs can send. Snow Leopard tackles this problem with Grand Central Dispatch, building on the 'NSOperationQueue' management introduced in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Instead of creating threads to do work, developers simply define a task and dispatch it to Grand Central Dispatch, which is literally an order of magnitude faster than creating a new thread.

About the App

  1. Mac OS X version 10.6, called 'Snow Leopard,' came out in fall 2009, and was superseded in July 2011 by Lion.If you have a Snow Leopard install disc, you can install it and update to 10.6.8 from the Apple servers, but Apple is no longer selling Snow Leopard.
  2. Little Snitch sits between your Mac’s applications and the Internet. It informs you of any attempt your Mac might make to establish an outgoing connection and allows you to decide what information gets through. Little Snitch 2.0 is now compatible with Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard,” according to the developer.
  3. If you are new to Little Snitch, you may get overwhelmed by the vast amount of notifications from applications wanting to connect to the Internet. The all-new Silent Mode was re-built from the ground up to make dealing with them a breeze.

Little Snitch Mac

I recently upgraded my mini to Snow, and reinstalled the OS on my 2010 MacBook as well. I have Little Snitch and noticed I'm now getting a regular flurry of warnings about 'locationd' wanting to connect to mac-services.apple.com.
I got so sick of them I ended up telling Little Snitch to block them all forever.
What are those however? Something to have to do with one's time zone?
